Social Media Marketers Gone Wild

social media marketingI have a confession to make.  I am terrified to log on to my Facebook account.  That’s right.  Terrified.  I ran away from MySpace years ago and I recently stop following close to 500 people on Twitter. The internet is starting to become the most frightening place in the world.

Why? Because Mad Social Media Marketers are taking over the world.  OK, maybe just my world, but it’s all the same.

MySpace was once a great place to catch up with old high school friends.  The same for Facebook and Twitter.  But now its just one big marketing mad house.  Every time I log into Facebook I am bombarded with “My company is the best thing since slice bread “,” Buy Magnetic Sponsoring from me and my all time favorite “Would you invest in the next Burger King for $200 per month.”

The internet has leveled the playing field.  Anyone with a computer and a pulse can advertise their business on the internet.  Hence, the problem of too many network marketers, affiliate marketers and internet marketers posting junk all over the web.  The internet now has a pollution problem and if you don’t want to be part of the problem there are a few steps you must take.

No, I don’t want to join your company!

Don’t advertise your business.  No one cares what business you are in, especially if you can’t help them become successful.  Why would someone join your business?

So, if you can’t market your business, what should you market?  You, Yourself and You.  People follow leaders, not businesses or comp plans. People want to connect with people that are funny, confident, and smart, not some salesman.

Become an invited guest and stop stalking!

Market yourself to people by providing value and solutions.  99.9% of network marketers don’t know anything about marketing.  Teach people everything you learn and before you know it you will have an internet following.  People will begin to welcome your advice and look forward to it.

Over time as people become familiar with you and your work, they will become use to following you.  Next thing you know, you’ll be signing up more distributors than a Kardashian girl has dates.

Build Lasting Relationships

There is an old saying “People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”.  If you are just looking to sign up new distributors or make a quick buck online, forget it.  Show real interest in your prospects.  If you don’t have an answer to their problem, find it.  In the long run you will have helped two people.

Be Interesting

This is what social media is all about.  Be interesting, be funny, and be controversial. This is how you would make friends at a party and the same thing goes for this huge party we call social media.

Don’t Follow The In – Crowd

This is what my mom always told me and she was definitely right when it comes to internet marketing.  And besides, everyone you see posting their junk on social media sites are struggling to sponsor reps or make money online, that’s why they are spamming your Face book page.

Let’s all do I part to make social media an enjoyable place to hangout. That is if you are truly a leader and ready to enhance the lives of people around you.

  4. Introducing – These last two magic words works great in headlines or even on social media sites.
  5. New – Everyone wants the newest latest thing to hit the market, including your prospects.
  6. Secret & secrets – Shh….. Can you keep a secret?  Well, I can’t.   Get all my Copywriting Secrets for free.  ;-)
  7. How to – Again, this talks directly to your reader.   Works great for SEO copywriting. Think long tail keywords.
  8. Guarantee & guaranteed - This one works so good it isn’t even funny.  Remember, don’t make guarantees that you can’t keep.
  9. Magic & Magical – These two work like magic.
  10. Easy- Human beings are lazy.  We are always looking for the easiest way to do things, include write copy.

These words work for all you copywriting needs.  Whether its writing headlines, Google Adwords, or just writing blog posts.  It takes more than just knowing these words.  Knowing how they push your prospects hot buttons and taking action,  that’s where the real magic happens.

I have spent years studying the topic of wealth building and wealth creation.  I have read book after book after book.  Along the way I have learned some very priceless tips, tricks as well as headaches.  There are so many books that recommend doing things that are not practical to the majority of people.

We all hear the advice from wealth creation know it alls: Start a business, save more, spend less and my personal favorite – live within your means.  Well thank you Captain Obvious!  The book “The Richest Man in Babylon” puts these principles in easy to understand dialogue and changed the way I thought about wealth forever.  George S. Clason, offers a real sotution to our financial problems.

Before I share with you the “7 remedies for a lean purse” this book has taught me, I only ask that you have an open mind.  If you are close minded to the idea that you can begin creating a better life with the money you already earn, Please Stop Reading and Leave My website immediately.  If you are open and ready to change your financial life forever, than this blog post is for you.

Remedy # 1: Pay yourself first. This is the foundation to wealth creation.  The book recommends that you save 10% of all your earnings.  This advice has literally changed my personal finances.  Having money saved has a positive effect on your psyche.  It immediately changes your broke mentatlity.

Remedy # 2: Control Your Spending. While reading remedy number one, my first thought was “How can I save tem percent if I am struggling to make ends meet right now”.  Remedy #2 is the key to saving more.  This takes discipline, but is well worth it.  Think about it, just by cutting out fast food you will be able to cut the fat out of your budget and your midsection. Don’t confuse necessities and desires.  Start by making a budget today!

Remedy # 3: Invest. Start putting your money to work for you.  I always here people say the wealthy don’t work for money.  Very true, they make their money work for them.  In today’s economy investing may seem scary.  Feel the fear and do it any way.

Remedy # 4: Guard your investment from loss. Only invest where your principle will be safe.  Always seek sound advice from people who know how to make their money work.

Remedy # 5: Own your home. People are terrified about the real estate market.  But the truth is if you are renting you are paying someone else’s mortgage.  Today is the best time to buy real estate in your life time.

Remedy #6: Insure a future income. One day we all will be old.  No matter if you are a business owner or an employee; the day will come when you will no longer be able to work.  When that day arrives you will still have needs and desires.

Remedy #7: Increase your ability to earn. This is when wealth creation explodes.  There are so many ways to do this: Go back to school, learn a new trade, go to seminars, start a business.  There are countless ways you can increase your ability to earn.

These are just a few principles you will learn in this book.  I strongly recommend this book to any and everyone.  The principles in this book lead to me having my best financial year in 2009 while earning less than I did in 2008.  I can’t wait to see what 2010 brings.  I am well on my way to a bulging wallet, What about you?

How To Get Your Articles Read

Article marketing has changed forever. Let me explain. Gone are the days where you can write an article, spam it with keywords and get traffic. Everyone is writing articles and blogging because it’s free. And lest face it, there are a lot of horrible articles out there. (I may have been responsible for quite a few in the past).

I am sure we all can agree that the internet is filled with people fighting for the same pool of customers. Once any medium of advertisement becomes common place, it looses its effectiveness. Once this takes place there is only one way to outperform your competition; Words. Words that grab your attention like a date watching a scary movie.

Your potential prospects and customers are bombarded with advertisement every day, including articles and blog posts. The words you choose will either break out of the clutter called internet marketing or be added to the land of the lost articles forever.

I remember the first article I wrote. Ugh. Terrible. Horrendous. Scary. You get the point. I was lucky enough to have someone give me a book on copywriting and I’ve been a sponge ever since. I’m still learning and have a lot of learning to do. But I have picked up a few copywriting skills that have made my writing better tenfold.

Here are a couple of copywriting tips I learned along the way. Hope they help.

Attention:
The best way to break through the internet clutter is to write headlines that demands the reader’s attention. Be funny. Be controversial. Be valuable. How – to articles are my favorite to write because they keep the readers engaged.

Stories Sell:
Tell a story. If your niche market is weight loss, tell a story of someone who lost a lot of weight. It doesn’t even have to be your story. Tell stories that are emotional and captivate your audience.

Make it easy on the eyes:
We are living in the ADD generation, especially when it comes to reading internet copy. You have to be able to keep your readers’ attention long enough to get them to take action. The easiest way to write copy that’s easy to read is with bullet points, short paragraphs, and use short words.

Make it valuable:
Before I write an article ask yourself, “Why am I writing this article”, “Who am I writing this article for”. If you are writing articles just to get traffic to your site, you will never be an effective article marketer. Decide who your most important reader is and write for that person. Answer a question or solve a problem and you will be well on your way to creating raving fans that will send your article into viral marketing world.

Writing good internet copy is without a doubt the most important skill you can learn in today’s internet marketing world. It doesn’t matter if you are using pay per click or you tube. It still comes down to you copywriting skills.

Relationship Marketing

This concept can mean a small fortune to your bottom line. Do you know why jewelry stores clean your diamonds for free? Or why huge retail stores have big discounts during the Grand Opening?

The answer is… Relationship Marketing. Big business have been using this marketing principle for years and you should be as well. However, many marketers start their network marketing careers hoping to get rich quick(Its o.k. to admit it, you did too). And we all have heard its a number game. The only number that matters is how many people you can build a relationship with.

Think about it for a minute, if your family didn’t want to hear about your business, why would a complete stranger on the internet? Technology has made it easy to build relationships through auto responders and lead capture pages. The way to build relationships using technology is by telling stories in your news letter. Stories sell. Stories help others connect with you. Your stories should tie in with training to add value to the other party.

Lastly, It’s not about the system. The system you use doesn’t matter. Are you using the system to brand “You Inc”, or are you just selling the system. The truth is, you don’t have a choice. If your affiliate isn’t marketing you, then “You Inc” isn’t growing. Remember, people do business with other people. But, how can they get to know you if you are relying on the system. Now I promote several affiliate products because I believe in them. But my primary business is to grow “Me Inc.”, not company XYZ.

Whether you are building your business online or offline, you must consistently follow up to build as many strong relationships with other marketers as possible.
